Re: Truckies not happy with livestock rail subsidies

They still do! In fact just a fornight ago,my train (5:53pm ex Central to
Shorncliffe) passed a shortish frieght with that familiar odour. I'm beoming
another marshmellow centered suburbanite as I felt a pang of sadness of the eyes
looking at me through the slats..
Actually,I find the run into town past the Golden Circle plant and adjacent
freight yard a highlight of my daily grind...although,the smell of the high acid
on stainless steel really stinks on a hot summers arvo....
There what I can only describe as NSW CHS(from memory)style stainless hoppers
chockers with apples!
I have never seen so many apples! Usually about four cars worth too.
Another thing that the Juice plant has is this neat little light tractor thing.
Smaller by half of a normal council tractor, highway tyres and little drop down
rail wheels...it is a pretty dinky unit too.Spends it's days shunting the
hoppers etc around the plant.

rgds,

Andrew.

ps, on the truckie issue..I deal with NSW greenslips for a living. Does anyone
want any clues to why a prime mover has to pay at least $1400 pa?? Sorry,I can't
publish the photos work gets off the police....
