Buses:
- Buses are usually much slower than trains as they have to drive
through traffic and stop more frequently. Trains have a much more direct
route and can travel at a higher speed in suburban areas.
Taxi:
- These are very expensive when compared to buses or trains. Unless you
only travel a short distance or have lots of money, these aren't
economical for normal commuter travel.
Private Car:
- If you are a teenager or an elderly person then you probably won't
have a license. If you can drive a car then you also have to look at
your destination. If you are travelling into the CBD of Melbourne or
Sydney then parking is costly and the traffic is a nightmare. The train
is often a much cheaper and faster option.
Walking:
- Try doing this if you live more than a few kilometers from your
destination.
It's very easy to say that it's your choice to use the system, but for
many people there is no real alternative.
