Re: [MELB] City Loop issues

Trams are much faster than trains in the CBD. You don't have to walk down
miles of steps or escalators to get to them, and they run along most
streets. To say that trams are crowded is just not the case, compared to
years ago when you could buy a 10 cent City Section ticket.

The city circle train could never compete with trams even before that silly
city circle tram came into existence. But it does serve all the city railway
stations.

W class trams used to be much faster than the more modern trams in servicing
the CBD, because they could load and unload very quickly, and hence would
suffer less delays at traffic lights.
