Re: [NSW] Removal of bins on CityRail stations in prep for Olympics

Mitch

Gardens have been trimmed or removed in some cases, lifts can be closed or
monitored by CCTV (and easily checked), Coke machines etc should have new
sloping tops.

People who plant bombs want to cause maximum damage and disruption as well
as possibly death/injuries. They want to be noticed. So therefore, it would
make more sense to a potential nutcase to bomb a larger station like
Hurstville rather than Kirrawee. Of course, staff at both locations have to
be careful but the measures at larger stations are a good idea.

Just remember back to Altanta in 1996 during the Olympics. The person
planted the device which exploded in a major gathering place (similar to our
Darling Harbour). These achieved world wide publicity. If the same device
had of been placed in a suburban home letterbox by a group of college
students in January 1996, do you think that it would have achieved the same
amount of coverage etc?

So you don't have a rubbish bin to place your Coke can in! BOO HOO! Wait
until you get home or off the station!

I'd rather be inconveinenced by no garbage bins at Hurstville rather than
blown up!

|So can gardens, seats, elevators, coke machines and huge piles of rubbish
|due to no bins!
|
|"Please place bombs in station bins [not] provided"
|
|And it's quite easy to find a station that isn't ditching all their bins on
|the outer area of Sydney [like Kirawee].
