Re: National Train identifiers

To add some confusion to this whole matter, remember that FreightCorp's Leigh
Creek coal service, on behalf of Flinders Power, seems to hold the FP
designation for both directions. I was in the Hunter recently, and I heard
Control talking to what I think was 6HN1 - the only service that I cold think of
was the NRC coal traffic for Macquarie Power, with HN presumably meaning
"Hunter". However, this could theoretically become confusing given that N also
refers to "Newcastle" / Morandoo / Port Waratah.
Whilst Q is being used by NRC for its BHP limestone service (Medway to Port
Kembla), I have also seen a document which suggests that Q also refers to
traffic from Sydney and Melbourne to North Qld destinations, though my knowledge
would suggest that no trains actually carry the designation - it simply seems to
be some sort of service identifier (as opposed to physical train number) for
shippers.
