So what? Concrete ties are only being installed in areas where there is a a
very high traffic level, and the north shore line doesn't count in that
score, especially since there is almost never any freight traffic.

When the new line to Parramatta is built, most of the area between North
Sydney and Lindfield is going to be subject to major upgrading anyway, so
what is the problem?

Or more correctly, no trackwork was done.. Just because there is a shut down
on, it doesn't mean work is being done on the track. It could be something
completely different, like overhead wiring, signalling, drainage work,
platform facing repairs or other organisations like Sydney Water, etc. who
have easements under railway tracks and need the trains shut down to do
major maintenance.

Or it could have just been wet - that makes most track maintenance work
impossible to perform. Almost all trackwork needs to be done in dry
conditions or it becomes too dangerous for the workers.

Regards,

Craig.
