True, but not true.

Trains to the city don't leave from the GSR controlled interstate
platforms, but they do leave from the adjacent TransAdelaide platforms
which serves both the Belair and Noarlunga lines.  Service is 30
minutely, with a bit more in peak times, and most trains do not stop at
Mile End which means it's usually a non-stop service.

The interconnection is not easy however, there is no direct connection,
patrons are forced to walk up a steep narrow flight of stairs, along the
Richmond Rd overbridge and then down a path less than suitable for
pedestrians.  All doubly difficult with luggage.  It would be easy
enough to create proper pedestrian access to the suburban platforms, but
don't hold your breath.
