Better operation of Nightsafe would also be better. There should be "NS"
marks (like the 4, 6 and 8 car marks) where the driver should stop when in
Nightsafe mode.

An example is a station like Newtown, where the steps are at the very far
end of platform at the country end. Ideally, the "NS" mark for trains
travelling in a DOWN direction would be positioned two car lengths past the
end of the platform, so that the back two cars were on the platform,
adjacent to the stairs.

Stations like Wynyard would have the "NS" marks positioned so that the open
carriages were in the middle of the platform, and the rest of the platform
could then be closed off.
