Local residents campaign for keep it running. They express tram route 19
can't handle patronage as well as a railway line and trams are subject to
traffic condition also takes longer to get to destination.

Conversion of Upfield line to LRT line would cost too much.

While on the same subject during late Labour years (late 80s)
Sandrigham line and Epping line also having problems. Sandrigham line suffer
from loss of patron and infrequent trains. Epping line having 2 paralle tram
service compet with trains. Both line resloved by upgrade stations and add
more frequency.
