AN had them in mind for both. The Ghan was allowed 125km/h north of
Tarcoola if hauled by a single EL.

Goninan originally designed them for the 140km/h HPT which was to
supplement the XPT. Imagine a Brisbane Limited with through MU cables and
an EL at each end.
