Re: Whats your fav diseasel oco?

ah! Mark, but you have done better in the good old US of A I bet!
Ran a few C's at 115, in fact fired for a 'joe' who never failed to check
his Hasler several times during a trip. And on one occasion we had 800
tonnes of 100 kph flats and two C's on point. We found the chart ripped in
half at Ararat, and did 120 kph where we could and it was terrific.
The C Class used to ride rough all the time. Sort of like running on Ballast
on the Rail head all the way. They felt heavy and they were! At 100 kph the
crunching feeling disappeared, and at 115 it felt like the Loco just
squatted down and smoothed itself out. They rode better than anything else
at speed. I crewed the Overland back from Wolseley to Dimboola several times
and once with a Dimboola mate who insisted on running at 115, I never found
out if it was allowed, but it should have, as the loco ran very well.
Ran test trains at 100 kph several times, again with good results.
National Rail should set up a leasing company and get a return on all those
Locos that are mothballed. BL, AN, DL and C Class of course . Perhaps if
Freight Australia does win National Rail, we will see them back on the BG
hauling wheat again....;o)
Been getting a few A Class on the oily to and from Wodonga. And I did not
get the flue because I had the window open listening to the beat! but the
bloody doors are no better than they were when they were designated B Class!
still leaking around the top, and although I tried to keep my collar up, I
got a chill again!
But the A is the next best thing....almost sound a little like a C....ah
yes! All these ugly NR's an N's
almost make a grown man cry...............
