Does anyone know how much it really costs to run an XPT from Melb to Sydney or 
from Sydney to Brisbane.
By cost I mean all the real attributable costs in actually running the 
train,ignoring the capital cost of the train.
ie how many passengers are needed per year to make the service viable and 
could a private operator succeed where Countrylink are struggling to.
ie could someone like NXP if it had SG rolling stock survive in this market.
