Re: Bad attitude

One should not criticise operational staff at CityRail, particularly when
the trains are late and out of timetable order.

At a station like North Sydney the staff there can go through hell during
moments of out of order running, particularly thesedays with everything
controlled from Sydney Signal Box (since the closure of North Sydney signal
box). When trains are out of order, the staff generally work quite hard at
stations like North Sydney with transpositions - at times they have no idea
of what trains are coming, and they may have difficulty in obtaining that
information from Operations Control (or whatever they are called today) - if
they have a Train Describer, that cannot always be relied upon.

Trains running late or out of timetable order do not do that as a conspiracy
against the general public. Often it is caused by vandals, fatalities, police
activity, or sticking brakes. Operational staff undertake their duties in
accordance with rules and regulations and for drivers, they should not leave
their cabins, and most maintain appropriate self-discipline to do their job
in a proper manner, in the public interest.

Keep up the good work gang.
