Re: Deary deary me ...

Having grown up next to Tasrail's line on the North West Coast, the LACK of
an early morning goods usually was enough to wake us up...esp the 3.45 a.m.
being late...odd.

Having returned to the childhood nest a few times recently, certainly, the
'new 'GMs were a bit disconcerting at first, but like the familiar EEs, no
cause for alarm. Just a few kilometres away at Ulverstone, I know the
arrival of the GMs caused a bit of concern as the 13 level crossings were
marked with a very different sounding horn, but even there, the complaints
have subsided.

It comes down to what you get used to...first time I moved to Melbourne,
the #19 trams used to bother me...but then, it became part of the everyday
routine.

The human body is odd, and the minds in some, odder! (that especially
includes me). If I moved next to a railway track, or an airport, or as
now, living in a fishing village, the sound of work happening is what you'd
expect...may be I am well and truly unrealistic...
