You are assuming she has been issued with a radio, and that it works, and that
someone is listening, and that she is in range of somewhere, and that the signal
box will accurately pass on the information.

See above.   The only person on the train with a half decent radio is the driver
with the MetroNet system up the front.  This will work most of the time.
