Far cheaper to bring them on a ship which the builder prefers, they will
say they are unable to get skilled staff in Aust.  or another petty reason
like that.  I bet they will try to get Korean & Malaysian workers over
Australians for construction work, French engineering staff for signalling
and design work , like some companies in WA try to do. I hope the unions
will watch this project very carefully.

Btw, Alstom have merged with ABB (last year - 1999) and is now called ABB
Alstom. Apparently they have work going at the moment worth 3 billion in
Australia alone.
