Re: 3801/30 to ararat
Do the organisers of these trips alert the police? I expected to see a
police presence along the Hume Highway when I was photographing the trains
on Good Friday but did not see any on the section between Wodonga and Euroa
where I left the trains to return to Melbourne.
I managed three photos and made every effort to keep within the speed limit
(not wanting a $165 fine and demerit points). But the other motorcaders were
way ahead of me after each stop - and I kept close to 110 kmph along the
Hume Highway.
The lure of steam is overwhelming to many enthusiasts but putting their own
(and other innocent parties') lives at risk is irresponsible.
And if (or when from what I've read on this newsgroup tonight) a motorcader
gets killed what will be the future of steam tours in Victoria?
