IMHO, that would be a very short sighted move. It would preclude further
extensions to Middleborough Rd and/or Doncaster.

The Box Hill extension was seriously proposed just before the Kirner
government was voted out. Had it gone ahead, the next project would have
been extending the route 48 to Doncaster. After that, the two lines would
have joined by building a line along Tram Rd.

Traffic lights can solve this.

It's not that far! It's only about 100m to the doors of Box Hill Central.
Less walking than between tram and train at Spencer St or Museum.

No. There was a private tram line from Box Hill to Doncaster in 1889.
