OK, why don't we turn this into something more challenging?

It does seem that almost every thread on aus.rail gets "hijacked" into a
discussion about something in Melbourne, so let's give the hijackers
something more challenging. Let's have a competition for the most
bizarre way of taking a chosen topic which has nothing whatever to do
with Melbourne, and finding a way of turning it into a Melbourne-centric
discussion.

For instance, suppose that the original topic is the ex-railway between
Meekatharra and Wiluna (Western Australia) - that's far enough from
Melbourne, I hope. Here are a few starting suggestions for converting it
into a Melbourne-based thread:

1. Someone once intended to go on holiday to Meekatharra, but was unable
to go and spent the time travelling between Flinders St and Spencer St
instead.

2. There was never any tour train run between Meekatharra and Wiluna,
but if there had been one and if Steamrail had operated it, it would
undoubtedly have carried an objectionable headboard.

3. There was never a Metcard validating machine at Meekatharra.

That's just a feeble start - I look forward to all the more inspired
suggestions.
