My SA history is fairly sketchy, so I don't know of any convoluted loops
out of Peterborough. I'm also a bit uncertain about the layout of Bendigo
and where the Kilmore line joined.

Peterborough - Adelaide - Pinaroo - Ouyen - Dunolly - Inglewood - North
Bendigo - Echuca - Toolamba - Seymour - Heathcote Junction - Kilmore -
Bendigo - Castlemaine - Maryborough - Ararat - Horsham - Balmoral -
Hamilton - Koroit - Geelong - Newport - South Kensington - Dynon Junction
- Tottenham Yard - Sunshine - Bacchus Marsh - Warrenheip - Gheringhap -
Cressy - Ballarat - Daylesford - Carlsruhe - Albion - Somerton - Upfield -
Spencer St - City Circle Loop - Flinders St - Fairfield - Oakleigh -
Traralgon - (Maffra?) - Orbost.

Calculating the distance covered is left as an excercise to the reader. :)

Cheers
