Hi,

How much messages were on the scanner?

What type of messages were they?

I have the scanner book and I too tried to scan for messages on a trip to Nambour last year. Heard
very little.  

I note your suggestion of search mode between 418 & 420. That might be the key. I was using scan
mode using preset frequencies.
