3830 made an unscheduled visit to Valley Heights roundhouse today when
the crew were told at very short notice that the loco would not be
able to take water at Penrith. The loco ran up to the turntable in the
roundhouse where a hose attached to a hydrant was used.
 Those few people who perservered with the difiicult conditions for
photography/video were rewarded with truly spectacular sights and
sounds as the 38 blasted through fog, torrential rain, thunder and
lightning in the upper mountains.
