Tram extensions was: Victorian election

: ALP transport policies a bit blurry as for impact on Tram Extensions - but they
: did say they'd extend the 75 to Knox, triplicate the Ringwood rail line (partly)
: and force the operators to run more express trains. Apart from that - buggered
: if I know, transport was a non-issue.

Putting this newgroup back on the tracks (don't worry I am also guilty of
derailing it).

I have seen a summary of the Scoresby Transport Corridor plans, there are four
options, this is for the period up to 2011.
Option 1 Basecase, it will be done no mater what, ie current works & planned.
* Park and ride at Ringwood and Croydon
* Railway underpass at Boronia (DONE)
* Additional Parking at Ringwood, Croydon, Pakenham, Mordialloc, Mitcham,
Seaford, and Carrum.
* Berwick, Cranbourne, Clayton and Moorabbin to Premium Stations (1/2 done)
* Grade Seperation Westall Road (Westall Station)
* Widening of S.E. Freeway Dandenong to Hallam (some to be built).

Option 2
* Tram to Knox
* Three track Box Hill-Ringwood
* Three track Caulfield-Dandenong
* Better buses
* Freeway Ringwood-Burwood Hwy

Option 3:
* Tram to Knox
* Three track Box Hill-Ringwood
* Three track Caulfield-Dandenong
* Busway in centre of Springvale Road (Maroondah Hwy to S.E. Fwy)
* Freeway Ringwood-S.E. Fwy
* Overpass over railway line at Remington Dr (Dandenong South, Cranbourne Line)
Option 3A included an extension to the Glen Waverley line to Rowville.

Option 4:
* Tram to Knox
* Three track Box Hill-Ringwood
* Three track Caulfield-Dandenong
* Busway in centre of Springvale Road (Maroondah to Dandenong Railway line)
* Freeway Ringwood-Frankston
* Better Buses

I can't see them building these as is, maybe the freeway the full length
Ringwood-Frankston, three track Blackburn-Mitcham & Caulfield-Oakleigh,
tram to knox and better buses, plus all in option 1 which is the
basecase (ie will be built, or has been built).

Costs:
Option 2:
Public Transport - $209M
Roads - $274M
Total - $483M

Option 3:
Public Transport - $234M (not including 3A, extension to Glen Waverley Line)
Roads - $532M
Total - $766M

Option 4:
Public Transport - $239M
Roads - $775M
Total - $1041M
