Re: Platform 8&9, Flinders Street

: As someone who regularly makes use of ramps and lifts when taking my kid/s
: on the train in a pram, may I just express the view that ramps are MUCH more
: convenient than lifts to me. With lifts you invariably have to wait, and too
: often have to squeeze in with perfectly able-bodied but lazy people. And
: ramps don't break down :)

If you go to platform 1 the lift is positioned such that people don't
use it. Going down it is easy to see, but going up from the platform
it is hidden, so unless you know where it is or read the signs then
you won't use it.

Hopefully this will leave the lift for people who need it.

The other interesting thing is that there are two doors in the lift so
you get in one door and out another door. They are set up to be on
sides next to each other (not oppsite)

I wonder if this makes it easy for people getting in/out not having
to turn around.

: Anybody confined to a wheelchair care to comment on lifts vs ramps?
