I saw the SM on the platform at St Leonards today and asked him about
the new stations opening.  He said it was most likely to open at the
end of February according to present plans.  He also said that it will
open without automatic barrier gates as apparently there was some sort
of ordering stuff up with the gates.  He thought there might be a
"soft" opening, followed by an official opening when the gates are
installed.

Some announcement notices should go up before the end of the year.

He also said something which probably answers a question from several
weeks ago about why the tracks had been reballasted through the new
station area.  Apparently the new platforms are on a slightly
different alignment to the previous platforms and the tracks had to be
slewed slightly to align to the new platforms.
