The following was the brief story of yesterday's events

3830 and 4401 were used on a charter to Medlow Bath departing Sydney at 9.30
am and returning at 6.30 pm

Meanwhile 7344 was used to transfer a flat wagon and the 3801 Ltd Lounge car
from Eveleigh to Sydney Yard, arriving later in the morning. A new Ford Ka
model car was loaded from Platform 1 on to the flat which also had sound and
lighting equipment. This train was then used for trial runs into the
Mortuary station in preparation for the events later that night. All trials
were completed satisfactorily prior to the evening peak curfew on special
trains in Sydney Yard.

At 6.30, upon arrival of the steam train back from the Blue Mountains, 4401
returned the carriages from that train to Eveleigh, leaving 3830 in No.1
Platform facing northwards. 7344 then brought the Ford train back to No 1
and the 38 attached to the up end. This train then awaited the Launch
ceremony at the Mortuary station when the train drew into that station with
a live band, Opera singer and DJ aboard the flat wagon. This train remained
at Mortuary until the close of the Ford event in the early hours of Thursday
morning.

The least said about the party and the music which could be heard for about
a kilometre in any direction the better, but most of Chippendale was aware
of the event! 3801's Lounge car come off a bit worse for wear when a lovers'
tiff broke out amoungst a couple of the guests.
