Re: when did Vic stop using buffers?



:     There were still buffers on some four-wheelers when they were withdrawn in
: the 80's and there are a few wagons with preservation groups that still have
: their buffers. There were also quite a few wagons fitted with dual couplers (an
: auto coupler with a link coupler on top). The wooden suburban electric stock
: (Dogboxes and Tait cars) were never converted to auto couplers and as far as I
: know the V cars were also never converted to auto couplers. Many steam
: locomotives retained their buffers until they were withdrawn.


The PTC tait train when doen up in 1984 was fitted with dual couplers
This trains is made up with M-D-T-M.  Can it be split to run as M-D ?
or is it stuck as a four car unit.
