Re: when did Vic stop using buffers?



    There were still buffers on some four-wheelers when they were withdrawn in
the 80's and there are a few wagons with preservation groups that still have
their buffers. There were also quite a few wagons fitted with dual couplers (an
auto coupler with a link coupler on top). The wooden suburban electric stock
(Dogboxes and Tait cars) were never converted to auto couplers and as far as I
know the V cars were also never converted to auto couplers. Many steam
locomotives retained their buffers until they were withdrawn.
