I was also stuck at Hornsby that afternoon.

The first announcement on Platform 2/3, from the SPI operator or whoever was
"The next all stations train to Strathfield will leave from platform 4" so a
mass of delayed and disgruntled passengers shuffled up the steps and across to
platform 4. Then only minutes later a different voice over the PA on platform 4
announced "The next all stations train to Strathfield will leave from platform
3"

We were not happy!!!

The 4:13 mainline all stations train left at 4:35 after several mainline trains
had departed empty!!!
