As far as I recall the ad I think they are installing a transition (?)
coupler, that is,
a coupler that allows connection to "normal" knuckle type couplers.  I
remember a
few years ago when a Tangara broke down at Werrington Station and an S set
came
up behind to push the Tangara.  The Tangara driver removed a transition
coupler from
an area below the front window and installed it for connection to the S set.
As it turned
out the crew were able to get the Tangara working again so the coupler was
removed.
