Allora Branch.

The following is taken from the September ARHS "Sunshine Express" (p148).
With the current talk about 3rd party operators in QR, I thought it might be
interesting.

"ALLORA EXCURSIONS?

There have been press reports of plans to reopen the mothballed Allora
branch railway (which runs some 6 kilometres from its junction with the
Southern Line at Hendon on the Darling Downs, north of Warwick).

The Warwick Daily News of 11 August reports that the Allora Action
Association, Allora Historical Society, Southern Downs Steam Railway
Association, Warwick Shire Council and QR (Property Division and Network
Access Group) and Queensland Transport were all represented at a recent
meeting at Toowoomba. QR will examine leasing the branch line to the
Southern Downs Steam Railway Association once the SDSRA had it's first level
of accreditation. In the meantime a license over the Allora Railway Station
and goods shed will be granted to the Allora Action Association. Approval
has been given to the SDSRA to use the branch line for training and tourism
pursuits. Level 3 accreditation is required before the SDSRA can run on a
QR line such as Hendon to Warwick, needed to make the proposal an effective
one."

Also, the Queensland Pioneer Steam Railway (QPSR) at Swanbank shares a
section of track with QR coal trains ex Macalister. What sort of
accreditation does it have, I wonder? Any QPSR members on this NG?
