[NSW] Chopper Set to Bondi Jct!

Hi all!

Travelled from Kogarah to Circular Quay this afternoon.  Heard at Kogarah
(ad nauseum) that the 4.41 to Bondi Junction (i.e. 4.28 ex Mortdale) was
cancelled for today only (and CityRail regretted any inconvenience etc.).
Got to Sydenham on the 4.39 from Kogarah and changed trains.

The 4.52 pm at Sydenham platform 3 (i.e. 4.25 pm ex East Hills) was neatly
transposed to cross to the Illawarra line and fill the gap in the service to
Bondi Jct.

This train was a 6-car 'C' set (numbered C3 on the front and C4 on the
back).  Are "Chopper" sets rare on the Eastern Suburbs Railway?

PS:  I guess this would not happen if CityRail were ever split into
mountainside, riverside and seaside railways!
