Ansett, which is not in a good financial shape at the moment. But the more
likely secnario is a partnership between Virgin and Newcastle-based
Impulse Airlines, which has just been dropped as an Ansett business
partner. Impulse has been planning no-frills services on the east coast,
and already has the necessary licences.

Back to railways for a moment, Virgin has informally looked at operating
trains in Australia in the past. not just Capital Rail, but during
privatisation bids. There have also been stories about Virgin and
Countrylink.
