Does anybody realise that construction work has started on the extension
to the Sydney Light Rail Line. Went past the viaduct at the bottom of
Johnston Street and noticed a hi rail truck with a brush cutter mounted
on it attacking the undergrowth that has sprouted up due to lack of use.
To get a better view of what was happening made my way up to where the
tunnel comes out onto that viaduct. It confirmed that a lot of scrub
clearing had taken place as well as ballast dumped on the tracks to
facilitate the hi rail getting onto the rails. But more interesting was
the fact the ABB had set up a work camp on the old car park just at the
side of the old tram depot and the rail line. It looked very new with
several workman tidying up the area. An old ABB sign was lying on the
ground. Any more info.
