Railway Digest Nov 99

Railway Digest Nov 99

A strong national flavour characterises the November
issue of RD. From the lead story of how QR is preparing
to spread its wings beyond its borders to South Australian
and Queensland features, the era of looking solely at
'State-based' rail operations is drawing to close. The
'Remember When . . .' column also marks the 20th
anniversary of Queensland Brisbane electrification.

To encourage greater reader participation in deciding
the 10 'Trains of the Century' entries, the cut-off date
has been extended by three weeks to Wednesday, 24
November (which is also the brought-forward editorial
deadline for the January 2000 edition). The Editor
gratefully acknowledges those who have taken part
to date in the selection process to date for 'Trains of
the Century' and welcomes more entries over the next
three weeks. An update of the competition is featured
in the November magazine (page 42). Entries and
other contributions can be emailed to the Editor
at: DekRogers@bigpond.com
The final 10 'Train of the Century' entries will now
be published in the January issue.

The plastic-wrapped subscription copies were
posted on Friday, 5 November. We sincerely hope
the mail system copes with delivery of posted
magazines better than it did last month when
some copies took over two weeks to be
delivered. Retail copies are now on sale in Sydney.

RD thanks all its readers and contributors for
their continuing support.

Regards
