I must admit that the last time I visited Adelaide and travelled a bit thru
the Adelaide Hills,I was amazed at how far out the suburbs had gone.
Mt Barker is now a very large place .
Even places like Nairne have grown much larger than they were back in the STA
days.
Obviously running a commuter service on SG has its problems, like rolling
stock, but thats surely no reason to not do it.
Even places like Murray Bridge have grown from the old SAR days when there
used to be around 6 to 8 services a day.
If the SA Govt cant see itself able to provide such services , why not do what
the Kennett Govt has done and sell a franchise or lease to the private sector
to provide such services.
A daily fast service to Pt Pirie and Pt Augusta should be viable as well as
Murray Bridge .
