NOT HAPPY!!!!! My intention was to go down to the ETD after work and check
out the new SMU. I got a phone call saying it departed at 11.40am this
morning heading back to Mary' West. They decided to lathe the wheels last
night so it went back early. I did, however, get a description of it.

It has a nose cone more resembling an IMU (which is slightly different to
series 1 SMU's). The doors are painted a very bright yellow and are standard
sliding doors (not plug doors). Instead of the usual 2 A/C units above each
doorway, there is one in the middle of the car twice the size. The consist
has also been changed to "motor, trailer, motor". The pantograph is still
located in the middle car. Existing consists (EMU's, SMU's and IMU's) are
"motor, motor, trailer".

Consist for 3 car EMU, SMU or IMU :-
DM (Driver Motor)
M (Motor)
DT (Driver Trailer) or GT (Guard Trailer) if a 60 series single ended
EMU.

Consist for 3 car 220 series SMU :-
DMA (Driver Motor 'A' end)
T (Trailer)
DMB (Driver Motor 'B' end)
