Re: Signalling in Victoria

: No, there was a bar welded onto the home signal counterweight that would not
: allow the distant to go to proceed unless the home signal was at proceed.

: BTW, the arms are read separately, distant at caution, home at proceed etc.

So would the following be correct:
Home Red, Distant Red. Stop and Warning, train must stop (home at stop)
Home green, distant Red. Proceed and Warning, train can proceed but warning
for next home/starting
Home green, distant green. Proceed and Proceed, all clear next home/
starting at proceed.

: There were no terms used to describe the 2 arms aspect's together.

: Yes, the showgrounds line was a unique one. There was a light disc or dwarf,
: can't remember which on the same post as a home. I remember discussing how you
: can have a light "disc"!

The way I see it is the Home was for the main line (up starting from the
showgrounds platform) and the disc is for the siding. But the disc is like
a calling on signal (nothing or yellow) but applies for a different road
to the home above.

So I would say that it is a calling on signal, but a different road to the
home signal (hence the 'siding' sign)
