So just because I live in the US I am supposed to support the way business is
done here? 

My point is that taking a relatively coordinated system like the Met and
breaking it up into 4 companies is lunacy.(Look at the mess the poms are in)
I could see breaking it up into a rail and tram division, maybe, why not go the
whole hog and sell off each line separately? It makes about as much sense.

You've got a real problem with the "socialist left", fact is that Victorian
public transport has been a joke for at least half a century, regardless of
wheather the "socialist left" or the "bluebloods" from the big end of town were
in power.

Public transport in Victoria will still be a joke but now the government
subsidised companies will take the heat instead of the pollies. It will cost
just as much, as now a profit margin will replace featherbedding and
inefficient work practices/poor management.

I think the only hope is VLFreight.
