When the City Circle was built, allowance was made for a line from the
eastern suburbs to enter St James from the south (using the middle
platforms) then curve inside the City Circle to Town Hall. Sufficient work
was done so that the City Circle would not be disrupted by further
construction. ARHS (NSW) now runs tours through the disused St James
tunnels.
