The bridge span was carefully removed by VicRoads (not pulled down)
after consultation with VGR because it was getting thumped by high
semitrailers.

Roadworks were then undertaken to lower the road under the span to
create more clearance.

The missing span is then to be, or has been, replaced by VicRoads at
VicRoads' cost.
