Philanthropist Andrew Carnegie was a Dunfermline (Scotland) weaver's son who
became a steel industry multi-millionaire in his adopted home of the United
States. He did give money for library construction in the Antipodes. One
example was $2000 which allowed a new library building to be opened in Mildura
in 1908.
