freight terminal at somerton
I'm new to this group. Hi.
The text below raised some questions for me.
Does anyone know exactly where this rail terminal is (going to be)?
Near Ford? On the Upfield or Broadmeadows line? North or south of Somerton
road? Near tubemakers or cement plant? Has it been built already, or just
a proposal?
Thanks,
Andrei.

Company Description: Currently developing a multi-modal freight
terminal at Somerton, Victoria. This 300 acre site is planned to
provide a rail terminal capable of handling both standard and
broad gauge operations and single train lengths up to 1500
metres long. Twenty-first century warehouses will integrate with
both rail and road operations from the same site. The Somerton
terminal adjacent to the Hume Highway is destined to be the
major integrated freight centre for Victoria with rail and road links
with Dynon Road and the Port of Melbourne.
