My girlfriends's father in law, who happens to be a very senior engineer
with CityRail Fleet Engineering, recently analysed the incidents involving
staff and passenger assaults, etc. for the last 12 months and guess what -
there are 90 percent *more* incidents involving train crew and station staff
that there are involving passengers, so if you think the trains are not safe
for you, then any level of safety for us staff is therefore non-existent.
8-)

Please do *not* assume that isolated incidents such as those you have
described mean that the 'trains are unsafe' - that's a load of bollocks
because there are hundreds of thousands of people moved every day by
Sydney's trains, and on most days there are very few or no incidents
involving passenger safety being compromised, threatened, reduced, etc...

What you hear in the media is mostly sensationalisation, and as anyone
knows, most of the personal safety issue comes down to plain old common
sense, regardless of whether there are security guards or police patrolling
any particular train.

Why don't you try to step back and look at the statistics, etc, properly and
make an informed comment instead of coming out with wild accusations about
political mismanagement of CityRail's train operations.

Regards,

Craig.
