Yes, I'm sure there are lots of shifty joes offering scanning but at least with
Kodak you are assured of a generally higher standard, they make sure the
franchise holders perform or they pull the franchise.
The "Kodak photo CD" system is known around the world as consistently
delivering a high standard. How may shifty Joes do you have to try before you
get a good one? Sort of like 1 hour labs isn't it?

The other alternative is a full blown prepress/service beureau that does
scanning but the price would be out of reach for most of us!
