Apparently, the marketing perspective is aimed at allowing Bundaberg
residents to be able to make a day trip to Brisbane.

No it wouldn't. The train arrives in Brisbane at 0910hrs then departs for
Rockhampton at 1030hrs. This only allows 80 minutes to run the train back to
Mayne for provisioning and cleaning and a little dwell time if (God forbid)
the train arrived late from Bundy.

If the train left Bundy at 0700hrs, it wouldn't get to Brisbane until
1110hrs to make for a 1230hrs departure to Rocky. The train would arrive in
Rocky at 1930hrs and passengers would not be there in time for the evening
meal. Therefore, QR would have to make provisions for an evening meal on
board which would drive the fare up further. I think this is a happy medium.

I am led to believe it is fully booked on departure.
