Re: EMU grunt - Where does the Millennium Train fit???
The Melbourne double-deck set has 8 x 170 kW traction motors (1360 kW),
tare 188 t (7.2 kW/t); loaded mass 256 t (5.3 kW/t); it accelerates at a
sluggish 0.75 m/s/s (1.0 is within the bounds of standee passenger
comfort).
A Melbourne Comeng set has 8 x 124 kW = 992 kW
tare 134 t (7.4 kW/t)
loaded 181 t (5.5 kW/t)
