Everyone please note: There is NO 'U' in Stanchion, neither should it be
pronounced as though there
is one! People confuse the word with 'staunch', an old fashioned word for
brave or strong.
Thank you
Joe

The cars from hornsby end are 3752, 41??, 4051, 3057.
4051 has a staucnhion up inside its shell at the No.1 end, which was dragged
down (the staunchion) and partly landed on the roof of 3057, crushing the
pantograph
and the rear of this car.
Much of the ballast piles had been removed by the end of Saturday night
(11th)
No other work was proceeding overnight; Only a security guard and inspector
were
on duty at the scene, which was in darkness other than the lights from the
MC in
the
distance.
