There is little point in electrifying beyond Grandchestor until a deviation of
the Little Liverpool Range is constructed. In a previous thread someone
mentioned that the planned deviation was to pass to the north of Laidley. With
this complete, electrification could be carried out to Helidon, until a new
line over the range is constructed. 

Apparently the two tunnels on the Little Liverpool Range are heritage listed,
which they should be and therefore cannot be "daylighted". 

Also, any deviation or improvements to track would need to take into account
the proposed sg line, which raises issues of clearance. as an aside, the down
line from Rosewood to Ipswich was relaid with 50kg (or 60kg?) rails and
concrete sleepers last year. Yet there is no allowance for SG on this section.
What happens when SG is laid to this brand new section of line?
