All HSTs smoke - some make more than others.

A railwayman once told me to complain about really smokey ones, which
would be overdue some sort of filter change. Maybe true.

I've ended up with black dust in my hair from Class 47 diesel exhaust,
comparable to that from a hard-working steam loco.
